When Have You Felt Melancholy?

Gatherings of good people, good food,
Generous listening.
A few hours later, I’m feeling Melancholy.

Maybe it shows up because being with
These people I love, reminds me that
I miss them being a regular part of my life.

I want to soak up more connection;
Have more time with each to catch up;
To absorb the “zesty-ness” of each personality.

What I REALLY know,
Is that little moments I share with loved ones
Are treasures!
The sparkle or the darkness of shared words
Are gifts for me to review and appreciate.

The length we have isn’t as important as
The focused attention.

Oh! So glad I got to write that.
That’s how I’ll name a gather-in.
Mind-filled-Moments.
Not Melancholy.

Limerick:
My outlook can be melancholy,
From time that was friendly and jolly.
Will switching my mind
Remind me to find
It’s brilliance? I’ll try that, by golly!

Hugs,
Lin
