How Was The View Different?

November on the North Shore of Lake Superior,
Known for time of cold, & Big, Crashing Waves on Lake.
Well — sometimes.

Our first ever November visit there,
Bob and I just spent three days at
Lake Superior’s Cove Point Lodge.
Three days of flattest, calmest water surface I’ve seen.

Nighttime Full Moon reflected on water,
Truly mesmerizing.
Moonlight creating glimmering surface fed by
Slow-moving, shallow black gullies,
Making their way to shimmering stillness.
Beautiful.

Leaves were down and views expanded.
Uncovered were structures usually hidden.
Some fresh on scene,
Some comfortably settled into surroundings,
Some struggling to remain, but disintegrating with lack of use.

I wonder, is my internal view like that?
Some outlooks newly stuck on hilltops,
Some remaining though no longer useful,
Some tested-and-true settled into landscape of me?

Makes me think — even without high waves.

Limerick:
The view that I see is all leafless.
The air all around is quite heatless.
The structures I see,
Can all remind me,
Dispense with those thoughts that are needless.

Hugs,
Lin
