Yes, You Can!

Sanibel Island— Day 5

Monday, March 11, 2019

Hello My Friends,

Today's ride had two destinations:
"Peel and Eat Shrimp" restaurant, and Grocery store.
That put us in center of most stores, lots of people,
Tons of bike traffic.

Bike trail was crowded with all sorts of riders,
Spanning all ages and all levels of experience.

On section where path was
Too narrow,
Too filled with wide-bike handlebars,
Too full of cyclists, No place to pull off,
A family with crying little girl came toward us.
She was wobbling, she was weeping,
She looked scared about being on this bike ride.

I'm thinking about her, and about each of us.

When taking on something that's a bit too hard and scary,
Taking on your "stretching adventure,”
Your new goal, your new skill...
My hope for each is that we do that new, hard thing
Where there's space to "pull off" to rest,
To be consoled and get encouragement,
To notice the fear, to screw up bravery,
And go anyway.

Best of all … is to find help when
You're in those "wobbly" spots.
Then get back on your metaphorical bicycle and ride on
.
'Cause you can do this.
Yes, You Can!

Hugs to each of you,
Lin
