67th Anniversary

Bob and Lin, on their 67th anniversary, 2026

A very long time to be married,
Provides bits of life that are varied.
Times you'd rather miss,
And times of true bliss.
All bound with the love you have carried.

What’s your long-time celebration?

This week was our wedding anniversary.
Sixty-seven years.

Common comments such as
"How can that be?”
“Time goes by so quickly.”
“Who'da thought?"

All are spot on.

If ever I wanted
A metaphor for a bike trip—
This is it.

Lin and Bob over the years. Clockwise from top left: early 1959—still single, 1996, 1997, 1999—year of my first cross-country ride.

The one-day-at-a-time.
Asking for help.
Humor ... better be able to laugh.
Connecting with others … each of you.
Committing.
Recommitting ...  recommitting ... recommitting.

It takes all of those and more.

If you name Any Venture
In Life,
All of those points
Are needed to make it work.

Marriage sometimes puts it
Under a magnifying glass.

And for me now,
That's the place to be.

Hugs,
Lin

  1. Happy 67th Anniversary, Lin and Bob! Randy and I greatly appreciate you as friends and fellow-congregants. Thank you for offering us your deep thoughts and your positive outlook on life.

By the way, Lin, your limerick for your 67th anniversary is true for Randy and my marriage, even though this year we will be celebrating only our 47th anniversary. Thank you for your reflections and limericks.

    Muriel
