Fermentation and Adaptation

What could “fermentation” mean for you?

The week held an outing in Wisconsin,
For event I’d read of as “Fermentation Fest.”

My mind’s-eye held particular picture—
Displays and “how-to” demos about
Sauerkraut and kimchee, maybe yogurt and beer.

Information posts from three years ago,
Spoke of such ferment-y things.
Not the event as it is this year.

Now it’s “Farm/Art D-Tour,”
More of an in-the-fields “Art Tour,”
Focused on concerns & hope for sustainability.
We viewed art installations in fields
As we drove along winding country roads.

Not what I expected,
Yet turned out to be a wonderful special event
For me, and for Bob.

As son David said to us,
“Fermentation can be about new thinking.”
Ideas of sustainable change
Were represented and thought-filled.

Landscape and vegetation with autumn brilliance
Big part of “Art Tour.”
Hillsides ablaze with color—
Maybe even better than sauerkraut.

Letting my expectation morph into
Delight with what I encountered,
Midst blazing autumn hillsides and heartfelt displays,
Felt like “cherishing what was at hand.”
That’s a BIG lesson for me.

Add in touring the “International Crane Foundation,”
Visiting some family and dear friends—
It was
Surprising and fabulous outing.

Hugs,
Lin

Limerick:
My outing to view Fermentation,
Required my mind’s adaptation.
New thinking through Art,
With messages smart.
I learned from each field observation.

Leave a comment for me below!

Seasonal “hat”. I love pumpkin color.
In-the-field menu featuring sustainable options.
Crane & it’s quiet reflection at International Crane Foundation.
At International Crane Foundation, sculpture of two cranes dancing. Beautiful!
Hippopotamus head sculpture & Lin. Each with lots of teeth. Fun!
