Practice Focusing on Next Thing

Wednesday, October 19th, 2022

What practice leads you to your large dreams?

This week, I’ve been practicing.

Practicing chorale music I’ll be part of in Dec.

Practicing talk I’ll give next week.
In White Bear Lake, and at Northfield’s Fifty North.

Practicing creating some deliberate time
For acknowledging myriad things for which I am grateful.

Practicing patience as we try to
Figure out winter break we’d still like to have.
We had reservations on Sanibel Island, FL.—
Terribly damaged by Hurricane Ian.

In all of these,
I notice the little bits that
Come together, Improve, or Inform.

Another phrase that flows easily,
Another note sung on key,
Another option explored,
Another “practice” for noticing my life.

Very much like a bike trip …
That one-day, one-mile, one-pedal stroke
Mantra that I keep saying and doing.

Little pieces add up to get you where you need to be.
Keep at it—you’ll get there.

As you’re making your way,
Pay attention to how far you’ve come.
How much you have improved.
How much your life is expanded with your effort.

Hugs,
Lin

Limerick:
My efforts seem sometimes “unmoving.”
And sometimes I feel like I’m “grooving.”
Each small thing I do,
Will help me get through
The inching-forth task of “improving.”

Leave a comment for me below!

Practicing talking.
Practicing music.
Radiant color!
Fabulous autumn color still in view.
Autumn “trail carpet”, leaves on bike trail.

Hi Lin,
Yes, we stayed on and enjoyed the sand on Sanibel Island years before it became one BIG traffic jam and now shambles. Good shelling but we have too many now!
Loved Anne Morrow Lindbergh’s very secret spot and cottage on Captiva Is.(probably blown away by Ian.)
Look at going WEST in Winter….all the way to the Pacific Ocean..LaJolla, Ca. or further north to Carmel, or Pacific Grove,CA.? Certainly not as warm as Florida..but storms probably will stay waaaaay off shore. Rain? Yes? but rainwear and umbrellas work just fine. (I am sure you have biked in these places, Lin?)
Good dreams and planning..Hopefully, Jan and Bruce

Thanks, Jan… good memories. We are looking at going west as well, visiting our daughter in Washington state. 🙂

Lin
I enjoyed this blog – as I do all of yours.
I left the fall colors in New Hampshire yesterday and am now in Pennsylvania for a few days – visiting my youngest brother and his family. I took my last swim, and maybe last bike ride there before I left. I will take long walks while here – on a rail trail or around the streets in this 19th century town of Lewisburg.
My hospice choir is doing a bit of singing this fall after a 2 1/2 year break. I love that we are back at it.
I hope you find a spot for a winter getaway.
Hello to Bob.
