Root River Trail Return

For the Sheer Joy of It!

Thursday, October 4, 2018

Hello Friends,

Hip Hooray!

Bob and I are on a short bicycle trip
On Root River Trail.
Our hoped for, fall trip is in "full pedal.”

Original more extended plan:
Looping some part of MN,
Got modified.

Partial rain, pretty chilly weather—
Predicted weather conditions made trail riding
(Avoiding highway traffic if raining),
Most attractive (and safe) option.

Here we are on Root River Trail!
Never a hardship to have this as biking location.
We are happy folks.

First stop, by car, lunch at
Estelle's in Harmony, MN.
If you're passing through Harmony,
Estelle's is winner for meal.

Checked into Rushford MN motel.
Dressed for biking,
Pumped tires.

Today is "relearning" layering for chilly weather.

I made sure I had my "Buff,”
Fabric tube of stretchy material,
Pulled over my head,
Covering neck, chin, lower face as needed.

GREAT add-on for today:
Alpaca wool sweater, orange color,
Worn over usual bike shirt layers.

Perfect sweater knitted for me by
Ruth about 35 years ago.
Yarn from alpaca sweater brought back from Peru
By Lindy,
Returning from High School exchange program.

Bob is perfecting layer possibilities.
Tomorrow's choices will be more effective.

So we are launched
For biking fun.

As I was "gliding" down trail today,
I thought,
"Why does this feel so right?"
Haven't come up with my answer,
I’m soaking in the delight.

Can you do a "Happy Dance" on a bike?
Yes.
Looks different, and it is real.

Lucky me.
Hugs to each of you.
Lin

Dressed for 52 degree start on Root River Trail—see the golden tree above me? Lovely!
