New Goal Set

Second 1000 miles before snow flies ...

Wednesday, September 16, 2020

Hello My Friend,

Biking this autumn season shift
Prompts my setting Second-Half-Bike-Season
Mileage goal:
One thousand by October 15.

Determined,
I'll make it before weather crimps
Outdoor riding.

Got to ride little portion of
Refurbished, resurfaced Sakatah Trail section.
Wow! Like biking on silk!
Wonderful to have section back for riding.

Taking up last week’s bike story:

About 2004,
I was on a bike trip down Mississippi,
Lake Itasca to Hannibal, MO.
Folks had said to me,
“Will be EASY trip,
All downhill.”

Yes, river went downhill.
No, trip route did not.
Lots of river bluffs to climb,
Head wind all the way.

Still, glad to have had that experience.

Interesting how:

Tired with pedaling,
Exhausted with battling wind,
Wet to bone with day-long rain,
Frustrated with detours,
Occasionally squeezed with traffic,
Translated to worthwhile experience.

Lesson for me that adversity
Doesn't have to mean “dreadful,”
And that “doing” is critical.

One of many experiences
I'd not have missed.

Lucky me.

Hugs to you,
Lin

Yellow and orange cheer along trail

Wonderful resurfaced trail

Can you spot the two sandhill cranes in this marsh?

Cheerful yellow flowers along trail

Biking on this resurfaced trail section is SO SMOOTH!

An abundance of yellow and green: jacket, helmet, flowers.
