Break-Out Day

Solution for Sinking Spirits

Wednesday, September 9, 2020

Hello My Friend,

Cumulative COVID effects for me
Result in feeling nothing is possible.
What about you?

Seeking solution,
I tried a Break-Out Day.

Bob and I took
Car day-trip with no bikes!

Not often are we
Recreational take-a-drive folks.
And that's what we did.

An hour away: Zumbrota,
150-year-old covered bridge.

Very current, charming shop,
"Luya" (short for hallelujah).
Calm, classy, colorful displays
Perfect for shift in my daily fare.

Just me, two clerks, masks, social distance.
Background music tickling my
"Dancing bones.”

Subtle dancing in the aisles,
Soaking in the visual,
Occasionally trying on a shoe.
Fun!

On to Lake Pepin.
Widest section of Mississippi River,
Big enough to be designated:
Lake.

You know how impressed I am with that river.
Growing up in Wyoming where such a river,
Existed only in books,
I'm still amazed to stand on its banks.

Bob and I picnicked by Mississippi,
Watched water, birds, far-shore view.
Magnitude reminding me of vast world.
Great different day!

About 2004,
I was on a bike trip down Mississippi,
Lake Itasca to Hannibal, MO.
Folks had said to me,
“Will be EASY trip,
All downhill.”

Yes, river went downhill.
No, trip route did not.
I’ll tell you more about it next week!

Hugs to you,
Lin
