Meaningful Connections

Cazenovia, NY: Rest Day.

Day 16 Empire State Trail Ride

Tuesday, August 17, 2021

What richness are connections bringing you?

Cazenovia, N.Y. is growing-up home of
Good Friend, Elizabeth;
Many years librarian colleague of Bob's.
Her roots go back six generations here.
With that in mind, I sought out
The Century House.

Mid-morning search was in midst of heavy rain.
Only drizzle as I started.
Though equipped with descriptions & directions,
For me, even good directions can be
Obscured in heavy rain.

Final help was from bank employee,
Who stepped outside and pointed to house.

Since front of that 1840 majestic, brick home,
Under renovation & repair.
I went to back door.

Introducing myself, explaining my connection,
Owner invited me in for tour of first floor of home.
Wonderful! and very Generous!!

I like viewing special old homes.
This is one—Very Special.
Obviously loved by "new" owner.

On to library—of course.
Another welcoming treat.
All I have to do is tell of the librarians in my family.
I receive red carpet treatment.

For first time on trip,
I found PIE !!!

My bike trips, especially early ones,
Always included pie stops.

Building across from our 1835 Inn,
Is F.H. McLaughlin building.
That was a dry-goods / clothing store from 1970.
My family-of-origin name is McLaughlin.

I'm spending afternoon
In room, resting.
My morning outing let me know that
My stamina is low.

At this moment, my plan is to ride
Half day tomorrow.
I'll let you know.

Hugs,
Lin

Limerick:

Searching for something that could be found,
With help from people that came around,
Was such a delight!
Each put me in sight

Of destination where I was bound.

It sounds as though you needed the rest days, are being well cared for, eating well, and making new friends along the way.

Who could ask for anything more?

Carl
