My room in Columbus, Ohio AirBnb
I rode in the van today.
Lots of time to look out its windows.
I was thinking about funny bike-ride things.
The year that my Northfield friend
Signed up to bike the
Defeat of Jesse James Day Ride.
The one hundred mile section.
This rider made an early start,
Got to location for first rest and food stop
No one there … odd since event is well organized.
Continuing on the route,
Next rest spot, only one person was there.
This time, the rider commented on "How Odd.”
"NO, it isn't.
"You have started at the finish end of 100 miles.
We don't get those riders for several hours.”
A different story...
When a cyclist left to ride on bike trail,
Only to return about five minutes later.
"Why have you come back?"
"I think I'm wearing somebody else's shoes."
"What makes you think that?"
"I can't get clipped in. These shoes don't have any clips."
Sure enough, wrong shoes.
I was admiring my friend's
Attractive new bike shirt,
A pullover design.
She told me she liked it very much.
"These pockets in front are really handy.
Easy to reach things."
Usually bike-shirts have back pockets.
"Problem is that the stuff I've stashed
Keeps bouncing on my tummy."
I looked again,
She was wearing it backwards.
And funny after the fact,
Not funny in the moment....
On hot, sticky, sweaty biking days
Stretchy Lycra bike shorts are
Nearly impossible to pull back up after pee-break.
I can end up with the crotch no higher than my knees.
Good thing that material is so stretchy.
Fabric can still be pulled close enough to waist
And stay decent.
We have to laugh!
May you see the crazy, funny bits in your day.
Hugs,
Lin

Enjoyed your commentary on those odd humorous challenges! Hope you’re enjoying both the on-bike and off-bike aspects of the ride.
Thanks, Carrie! I enjoy my fellow riders–only wish I were riding with them. Today is a rest day. Good for everyone.
Thanks for sharing the laughs ❤️
🙂
Lin –
Great stories all.
I love traveling with you. You inspire us with your can-do attitude.
Hope
Thank you, Hope!
I hope you’re healing Lin! I was sorry to hear about your tumble 😩. These stories are pretty funny! I can identify with the shoe issue. Also, 3 weeks ago, in a hurry to get loaded up for a ride, dropping a shoe in the garage and not remembering to go back to get it. I did the 35 miles in my slide sandals. Ouch!
Love the fact that these things happen to many, at different ages. Thanks for the laugh, Margaret!
Lin,
I could not read your most recent post until the end of the day. Humorous stories are a fun to read at night. Thanks.
Thinking of you!
Muriel
Thank you, Muriel! Much appreciated.
