Calm Inner Chaos

Wednesday, March 6, 2024

When I’ve been away for a long time,
Effective reentry paradigm?
“Reach out and connect.”
Then what I expect—
Connecting returns me to “up-time.”

How do you calm the inner chaos of transitions?

Back in MN, we are home.

For me, coming home after adventure
Brings unsettled feelings.
Inner chaos.

Which transitions unsettle you?
How do you cope?

Returning to snowless ground,
Ice-less walkways.
Unexpected, and Appreciated.
(Even though Yo-Yo weather is a worry).

Getting here—
I’ve yet to learn
Positive Curiosity
For a long travel day!

Long waits, delays,
Heighten my anxiety, my short fuse.

Fortunately, our MN airport pickup
Was by a very dear, very calm friend.
Her reassurance was
“You are home. You made the trip.”

One of my settling-in modes is
Some hands-on task I can see completed.
Laundry fits that description.
That’s done.

“Connect with others.”
That really brings me home.

Connecting in any way,
Phone, Zoom, Text.
Lets me pick up friendship / loving threads
Set aside for a month of different-paced life.

Connect is basic,
Especially as I age.
I find this is Bedrock for my Being.

Family, Friends, Acquaintances, Kind Folks—
Bring me home to myself,
Wherever I am.

Hugs,
Lin
