Back in the Saddle Again

Launching a week-long bike-trip with Bob

Thursday, August 2, 2018

Hello My Dear Friends!

I am gently biking-tripping with Bob.
Exactly my intention for my
Rest-of-season bike adventures.

This is significant restart of my favorite activity.
I've felt discouraged and flat,
Since return from West.

Discouraged and Flat drains enthusiasm,
Squashes sense of Possibility.
Not Fun
.

Being out now ... is upward turn,
Reminding me I like this!
I can do this!

To WI bike trails two weeks ago.
Of course, ... to WI family also.
Bits of biking over three days,
Barely sixty miles total.
Not “impressive,” but very fun!

WI bike trail surfaces
Crushed gravel, sometimes dirt-to-mud,
Green corridors with double paths.
No "single track" biking.
(that's mountain biking .... single track)
Not my scene.

Today begins week long biking,
Short days on variety of Northern MN trails.

Noontime start for car driving miles today.
Took time for doctor appointment before starting.

Doctor’s careful assessment of Bob,
Her professional opinion that bike riding would not harm
His injury from bike mishap and subsequent swelling.
Absolutely worth later hours on highway.

Tomorrow we will ride East end of Mesabi Trail.
New section for us to view, maybe explore.

I'm "back in the saddle again!"
Growing up in Wyoming I always heard,
"If you fall of your horse, get right back on.”
It wasn't "right back", but
I am ON.

Sending hugs to each of you,
Lin

WI Trails—limestone and dirt. Different surface for us.

Missed seeing your commentary since our Michigan ride. Glad you are “back in the saddle” but what happened to Bob?

Ah. I should have explained. At home in Northfield he was crossing busy street where new pedestrian “light” has been put in. As he walked across, aa approaching car clearly was not slowing down. He hustled, made it to other side, where he tripped on curb and got pretty banged up. My concerns were that new bruising might exacerbate old “deep vein thrombosis,” a clot might come loose, or something. Fortunately all is well. Just scary. And grateful. Thanks for your concern!
