Training Plus Fun

Family Celebrations and Root River Trail

Sunday, May 20, 2018

Hello My Friends,

Nearing June 1st Lake Michigan Ride start date,
Training up to 40 miles in a day—
Feeling ready for the adventure.

Last ten days filled to brim with training rides & logistics.

Best though, has been family connection,
Plus the Lin and Bob b-day bike trip on Root River Trail.

Weekend of May 12 in WI gave us
Rich connections with Sara, Rob,
David, River, Ezra, Jamie.

Excellent visits, excellent food,
Joyfully celebrated Bob's 83rd birthday .

Today was celebration extension,
Picnic with Scott and Sequoia.
Sequoia & I got to ride Carousel in Como Park.

First Carousel ride for me
Since I was twelve.
FUN!

Bob's and my gift to ourselves was a bike trip,
Root River Trail.
Quiet trail, bursting wildflowers, gentle weather
Cradled each of our three days ... two half days, one full.

We laughed and named it our "Fat Trip."
We ate much, often, and fat!

Riding together was Wonderful.
Bob is my favorite Bike Trail Buddy.
Pace is similar.
Long periods of silent pedaling are
Fine with both of us.

We are sharing the experience—
That pleases both and each of us.

Hugs to each of you,
Lin

P.S. When “Around Lake Michigan” Ride
Begins June 1st,
Expect to hear from me daily
(With a day’s delay)

I look forward to sharing my adventure with you!
Here I go on my “Next Big Thing!”

You’re an inspiration! AARP should do a story about you. You make getting old look like a lot of fun. Keep it up!

    Lin Bruce - May 23, 2018

Thank you, Joyce! Wouldn’t that be fun, to be in AARP! I say since we can’t avoid it, we ought to make getting old as fun as possible! 🙂

Dear Lin,
Good luck on your trip around Lake Michigan. But I know you will do it with all your energy, drive and family support. You are such an inspiration, especially to me. My mom died in February and your comments on the website have raised my spirits so much.
Thanks again my friend.
Keep on cycling,
Becky Orr

Becky, How lovely to hear from you! I’m so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. Grief takes… what it takes. I know getting my body in motion often helps move through emotion. Sending you my sympathy and appreciation.
