Taking the Long View

Wednesday, November 16th, 2022

Are you stepping back,
And taking the long view?

Beginnings, pauses, changes,
Part of most weeks.
Some are “stellar,”
Some are so usual,
We barely notice.

The “long view” puts it in context.

STELLAR for us this week —
Birth of our first great-grandchild!
An amazing gift to be alive
To meet this baby,
First of next generation
Of our extended family.

Thoughts are pulled to our own small babies,
And to the fine adults they’ve become.
Isn’t it amazing?

Expected —
Yet,
AMAZING!

Seasonal “usuals”:
Arrival of snow,
Bike rack put away until next year,
Indoor stationary bike as my ride,
Hardly enters my mind.

I’m thinking of
Generations.

And glad to be part of the scene.

Hugs,
Lin

Limerick:
“Great-Grans,” are steeped in mythology,
Really, it is just chronology.
Here’s what may be true:
The one thing to do …
LOVE! and ignore the morphology.

Speaking of generation span… here’s is Great Grama Lin at one & half years old.
Oxymoron… Air conditioner in snow. View of my winter balcony.
Shared soup-making task including heart-shaped potato. Soup made with LOVE!
One of my “cheery” pictures for snow months. Visual sunshine.

Wonderful post, Lin. A beautiful way to recognize and celebrate the arrival of snow and the birth of your first great-grandchild! Both ordinary and extraordinary.

Congratulations to you, Bob, and you whole growing family!
