Same Scene Different View

Lin and her favorite flower: daffodils

When I report what I am seeing,
Of course I hope you are agreeing.
More "takes" can expand,
The viewing at hand.
Variety can increase "being.”

How can our views of the same thing be so different?

Looking at what I pass
As I ride along ...
Taking in the springtime.

Bright forsythia and Spring leaf lace

Feathery fringe of tiny green leaves
Emerging into foliage I may
Take for granted in a few weeks.

Now, though, newly opened leaves,
And blossoms bursting with their color,
Bring me smiles.

A season of stunning blue lawns.

Other bicyclists would see this
With their own awareness and pictures.

This really showed up
Back in 2008, on 700 mile bike trip
With a teenage grandson.

We rode same route,
At our different speeds.

Several times in a ride-day
We met at assigned spots,
Connecting with our SAG driver, GranBob.

One particular day, checking with each other,
I asked Grandson,
“Did you see that big bush
Totally covered with Blue Blossoms...
Right by the road?”
"No, I missed that."

He asked GramaLin,
“Did you see remains of the
Big barn that had burned...
Right by the road?”
"No, I missed that,"  said I.

Same day,
Same route,
Totally different viewing experiences.

Trailside beauties, bold yellows and violets

Possibly every day, we have
Same experience,
Same conditions, yet
We come away with
Different viewing, different accounts.

Hmmm .... something for me to
Realize.

Different accounts,
Same viewing...
All part of the scene.

What do you notice?
May it make you smile.

Hugs,
Lin

  1. Lin, Your comments on how our observation of the same events and objects may differ struck me as valuable during this time when we struggle to carry on a dialogue lacking understanding of the sources of each other's reality. The blue lawn really surprised me.
