Charleston, SC—non-biking adventure
March 12—17, 2017

Hello My Friends!
This week has been whirl of new places, info, people
As nineteen soon-to-be-friends gathered in Charleston—
Actually "Isle of Palms, S.C."
For fieldtrips, walking tours, lectures.
Much to view,
Much to learn and see.
Architecture,
Plantation history,
Gullah culture.
I've heightened awareness,
Expanded interest,
Small start on new information.
Friendly participants from many states,
Excellent staff tending to arrangements & connections.
Comfortable bus,
Beyond ample food.
Shortcoming of week was
Weather colder than Charleston has ever had.
28 degrees one morning.
Living in MN,
Accustomed to dressing for cold,
I totally missed "mark" for warm clothing,
Expecting warm weather.
Being cold makes it hard to really
Appreciate being outside
Seeing sights,
Hearing explanations,
Smiling for camera.
I see most of pictures have my scowl.
Know that I was cold,
Not unhappy.
Saturday, March 18, we take
Greyhound Bus to Asheville, N.C.
See Rose Bruce,
Warren Wilson College,
Asheville N.C.
Another adventure!
Hugs to all,
Lin

What a grand trip and how wonderful to see new country, new traditions and cultures PLUS meeting new friends along the way.
Love your trip descriptions! It will be in the 90’s all this week then maybe a cool off next weekend into the 70’s and MAYBE even some much needed rain.
Have a really great time!
Love and hugs back to you.

Thanks for your note and good wishes, Bev! 🙂
Lin, I miss the azaleas, the dogwood and redbud trees in the South. Spring provides a powerful reminder of the beauty that only nature re-creates each year. I remember the story about one of the famous Lee family who rode his horse up a curved staircase in one of the plantations along the James River in Virginia.
Being here brings such stories to vivid life! Thank you for the memories, Alan!
