Practicing Patient Waiting

Bus shape – I have learned to scrutinize.,
Sort out from trucks with some merchandise.
Now I do not wave.
My waving I save.
Wait for a bus that I recognize!

Is waiting patiently easy for you?

Who knew that South Padre Island time
Would be chance to practice
Patience and Flexibility?

For me it shows up as a
Bus Rider.

I am really grateful for free buses,
Operating on prescribed schedules—
Much of the time.

I take the bus to store where
“My” bike is ready to be picked up
For my day’s ride.
I ride for two hours (usually),
Return bike to shop, then
Catch bus back to motel.

That makes two opportunities
To figure out schedule and prepare me for
“Patient Waiting,”
Until I can flag down next oncoming bus.

That’s what you do from any location,
Wave your arms to signal “Stop, Please!”

First day that I waited,
Not yet having “bus silhouette” familiarized
I waved my arms at:

  • Large dump truck,
  • Plumbing Repair van,
  • Brinks Armored truck

None of which stopped—fortunately.

Now I recognize correct bus silhouette,
And am realizing that
Patient waiting sets
Better mood for pre-or-post riding.

Perfect opportunity to
Appreciate different pace,
Notice the moment.
Let go of my rush.

Here I am —
Getting to strengthen biking muscles,
Via the beach, my walking muscles,
Via the bus, my
Slow-down-and-appreciate muscles!

Lucky me.

Hugs,
Lin

P.S. Valentine’s Day flurry…

Have a Valentine-birthday?
Know that
You top today’s “attention list”
For those who love you.
