My Favorite Fireworks

Wednesday, July 6th, 2022

When donning my clothing for riding,
It is very simple deciding,
Just what I will wear.
It’s out of a pair
Of colors; high-viz, they’re providing.

Do you love simplicity, too?

For about a decade,
On Sunday closest to July 4th,
Our church has met for that
Holiday weekend morning service
In a century & a half-old country church,
About ten miles from our home.

Carefully & historically preserved,
Charming spot.
Bob and I often ride our bikes to get there.
It’s a nice ride.

Side benefit of riding is
Selecting my church outfit-for-the-morning.
It is a bike jersey in either
Blaze-orange or
Screaming yellow.

I dearly love simplicity!

I rode my “trusty bike,” standard pedaling.
Bob rode his electric-assist bike, the “eBike.”
Even with Bob’s keeping the “assist” at lowest level,
It was clearly adding great help
Getting up hills.

Wonderful!

That’s the whole point!
Being able to manage terrain,
Lengthen rides we can take together.
Extend our days of shared riding,
Shared simplicity,

Tonight, July 4th—fireworks.
My favorite “fireworks” are
Fireflies.
Their twinkling lights hover longer in the air.
Their mesmerizing light-show
Is quiet celebration.

Hugs,
Lin
