Lake Michigan Ride—Day 4

Manistee to Empire, MI: 58 miles

Wednesday, June 6, 2018

Much better ride day for me.

Today's start temp was 38 degrees,
Wow! I wouldn't go riding at that temp
If I were home.

Layered up with most everything I brought,
And was fine.
Especially since temp rose 20 degrees in two hours.
Then it was "strip tease" time on road edge.

Good roads,
Good shoulders,
Helpful wind
.

One 11 % long uphill grind.
Whew! Challenge.
I did some cross-training final 1/4 up.
(Cross-training translates: walking up pushing my bike!)

There was only one mile of trail in whole day,
Into Frankfort, MI for lunch on truck.
Margaret had good food set out.
Something for any dietary limitation.

Stops beside lakes,
Laughter over ice cream cones beside bear statues,
Increasing camaraderie,
Good ride conditions,
Fine day for us.

Group walked down street to local cafe for dinner.
All seated at long table,
Individual ordering.
Makes dinnertime sort of lengthy,
Still all are well fed.

Tonight I had Thai Cobb salad the size of a kitchen sink!

Map meeting in a few minutes,
Learn about tomorrow's adventure route.
Lucky.

Sending love to each,
Lin
