Incremental Steps

My bike on today's section of Ohio to Erie State trail...big and wide.

Mount Vernon to Millersburg, Ohio
Bike buddies rode 42miles.  I rode13.

Yay! 13 miles is two farther than yesterday.
At this rate...
Well at this rate, I am biking.
Which is a match for me.

I rode in the Van with Ken.
That trip was absolutely beautiful.
Rolling, undulating hills—
Perhaps even more scenic
Than biking route.

Hills were
A reminder of how helpful
Rail Trails are.
Railroads were built with 4% grade max,
As often as possible.

I started my ride at what was end-point
For riders who rode the route from Mount Vernon start.
This is a great option/ arrangement for me
Since I can decide how far I want to go
Then turn around and not be lost.

Clockwise from upper left. Our lunch spot—excellent. Bikers John and Ken flanking owner of store and deli. Imagine this...bike clothes on hangers. Once helmet is on, Nancy ready to ride.

Unusual lunch stop today,
Here in Millersburg, OH.
“Trail Side Deli,” within the grocery store.

We all went there, ordered our choice of food,
Sat at a long table eating delicious food.
Bread, and sweets are all baked there.
Top-of-the-Line!
And our leaders bought lunch.

That grocery store, and Deli
Are owned, run, staffed by Amish folks.

The owner guy stopped at our table to ask
What we were doing in the area.
Very friendly, interactive man.

Clockwise from upper left: My bike and I starting today's 13-mile ride. Margaret's first day, yesterday, out on her bike. Lin cheering in background. Message on the trail. Surfaces were different.. I tried them both. John prepping bike for today's ride.

It has been interesting…
It has been a Sight
To see Amish people riding E-bikes—
Some with trailers loaded with stuff
Or kids.

I've learned that outdoor gathering places,
Like a picnic shelter with electrical plugs,
Are places to go to charge one's bike.

As hilly as this area is,
An E-bike would be very helpful.

My ride was good.
Thirteen miles was a good choice
For today.

Getting on bike, and the
First downward stroke with right leg...
Still challenging.
I realized that pedaling is
More comfortable than walking.
Walking is weight-bearing,
Biking isn't.

My outlook is positive.
A little more each day.

May your day hold a bright spot.

Hugs.
Lin

  1. You go, girl! I’m so glad for you being back on your bike. Enjoy every day for what it’s bringing. 💕💗💕

  2. Non-weight bearing…a bike is a great choice for this. It seems that each day is pleasant in some way. The hills of Ohio are my favorite part of the state, and there are a variety of places in the state to experience them. I am glad your day was spent seeing the beautiful countryside! I send a smile 😃 to you today.

  3. I love that you are being practical enough to not overextend your physical limits but still being part of the biking group & enjoying your biking whenever, & however, possible! Never giving up, but adapting!
