What? Not toasted???
If a drawback can be named funny,
With wise words or something that's "punny"—
Your mind will then range,
And bring in a change—
From darkness to thinking that's sunny.
I’ve learned to laugh at myself.
You know my list of Five Shifts includes
"Find Humor in the Hard Stuff.”
That really applies to Off-Bike-Life,
As well as riding situations.
All the Shifts do.
Today was classic funny
In the moment.
We were having BLT's for lunch.
Base is a piece of toasted GF bread.
All components were ready,
Tomatoes sliced,
Bacon, (turkey-bacon) cooked,
Awaiting toasted GF bread for base.
We use a toaster oven.
Temps set, dial activated,
Waiting for "bing" to signal toast.
"BING.”
Opening door revealed
I had forgotten to put bread into toaster.
Argh!!
Okay... this time
Bread Into Oven
Temp set, dial activated, waiting ...
"BING.”
This time I had forgotten to plug in toaster.
I couldn't believe this
Series of omissions.
I HAD to laugh,
So hard I was bent double,
And wondered if I would get out of that
Without wet pants.
You had to laugh!
Rather than drop into the
Mental haranguing of berating.
I got to howl with laughter,
See the ridiculousness & smallness of the mistakes,
Rather than go down the hole of
"How dumb and careless."
What a good outcome.
Seeing the humor,
In the moment or after-the-fact.
Humor can shift perspective and
Lighten the scene.
May you see the humor.
Giggle and laugh.
Hugs.
Lin
