How Do You Stay Upright When Walking?

Figuring out how to stay walking upright
Is pretty important.
I’m talking about the actual, physical upright
Of walking in winter.

I fell about ten days ago.
Little patch of ice, easy to negotiate, right?
Starting to slip, I did quick choreography
To keep my balance.

Alas, — “splat”.
Lin and pathway met flat-out, eye-to-surface.
Nothing broken, just some bruises & hyper-extended muscles.
It has made me very cautious.

Now I am taking
Walking stick with me,
To provide 3rd contact point for balance.
Plus, I’m being even more vigilant.

Winter always takes “re-learning”.
I’m on it !!!

Limerick:
I go out to walk with a walk-stick.
For staying upright, it’s my best pick.
And so, as I go,
I poke in the snow,
To move across places that are slick!

Hugs to each of you.

I am proof that one can tumble on perfectly dry sidewalk. Snow & ice surely add a dimension of risk.
Glad you have nothing broken. Sending gentle hugs. 😁❤️
