Heavy Lifting

The things that we learn from life's shifting,
Always include "heavy lifting.”
Any journey's route,
Informs us about,
What our "heavy lifting" is gifting.

Last weekend held Mother's Day.

If ever there was a role that
Dramatically shifts a woman's life
It is becoming a mother.

A huge role that brings
Emotional full-time involvement
Even if full-time hours can't be
The scene.

Oh my, the magnitude of the emotions!

The emotional gift of being
Fiercely loved,
And
The crushing times of being
Fiercely resented or closed-out.
Those are parts I never expected.

And as I think back on being the
Growing-up child,
A little kid in my home,
I remember that same swing of feelings
For my Mom.

That's brought a life-expanding awareness
For me as a mom.
An understanding of and compassion for
My Mama's parenting.

This weekend, as my children
Sent loving, caring messages to me
As their mom,
I send Gratitude vibes to my memory
Of my Mama.

Gratitude that has come with insights
From living my role as a
Mom.

May memories hold understanding.

Hugs,
Lin
