Life can get heavy and serious.
Mindset can be deleterious.
Have fun and go play,
To brighten your way.
Remedy clear! Not mysterious.

Fun, Hobbies, Play—

These words have been surfacing
In what I’ve read and heard.

My first response is
Later, not now.

Too light and fluffy.
Not what’s needed.

However, this book,
“Touching Two Worlds”
By Sherry Walling, PhD , Clinical Psychologist,
Prompts my thinking.

Paraphrasing Dr. Walling—

“Hobbies are long-term investments in
Wellbeing and capacity for Joy and Fun.
We spend lots of time living in our minds.
Integrate our bodies and minds—
Relearn how to move,
How to play using whole-selves.

Play is actually a psychological necessity.
We all need to find our best way to Play.
You never know when you’ll need
Play as part of some healing.
Play now.”

I feel like the Universe has given me
A great required prescription toward wellness.

Permission given!
Now—
Go Play.
Everyday.

Let’s try that.
Fun in each day’s equation.

Hugs,
Lin

  1. I’ll fill that prescription too.
Nice to see you getting in a little biking.
    Hope

  2. Love that you found a place to play indoors! I am getting a lot of play in this week with my rollerblading friend Kathy, we took a play vacation to Florida. Thank you for the inspiration, and the encouragement to play!
