Chaotic Beginnings

Detour messages applying to new bike trail construction

The project's chaotic—you feel cross.
Disruptive and messy with some loss.
Think how things will be,
And what you will see…
A place you've known, shining with new gloss.

Where are you experiencing chaotic beginnings?

Very different ride today.
Since it was a day off for road-workers,
And big machines were quietly parked,
I spent time riding / exploring
Under-construction, soon-to-be
New Bike Trails.

Some areas were a chaos zone!
Adjacent roads closed,
Homes’ accessibility only available by
Circuitous, windy, back-door-routes.

Residents are upset.

Confusion, uneven surfaces,
Take-your-choice detours
Have some people angry at bikers.

Of course, when complete,
These new designated no-motor-pathways for
Runners, pedestrians, parents with strollers,
As well as cyclists will
Grace neighborhoods and add sales value.

Now, though, that's hard to care about.

Many parallels.

Cleaning garage,
Disruption can seem to outweigh
End result.

Even cooking.
Locating, lining up
Seventeen different ingredients for
Special dish consumed in seven minutes
Can seem to outweigh the result.
At least it makes me
Think hard about the undertaking.

We all figure out what matters to us.

Take on the task
Be patient with the confusion.

Or Not.

I have some possibilities that I'll see through,
And some untouched ones that I'll decide are fine for now.
Either route is the right one for me.
