Balance-ability

Lin's birthday dinner outing with Bob.

Living with solid stability,
Coming from your learned agility,
Will enhance your days
In so many ways.
Using your "balance-ability."

How good is your balance?

I got outside for a bicycle ride.
All conditions optimum.
Fabulous! and so much FUN!

To begin my ride,
Relying on "muscle memory,”
There is the first stretch of
Right leg through bike to right pedal,
Left foot onto its pedal,
The lift into bike seat.

Launched and balanced ... I can ride.

Riding, feeling smooth,
On my bike and on the trail.
Feeling like my outside-self
Was matching my inside-self.

Another description might be,
Balanced.

Clockwise from upper left: Beginner unicyclist finding his balance. Keep at it. Practice makes ... better. Hang on, get help when balance is rocky.

I saw a young teenager learning
To ride a Unicycle.
Gaining Unicycle-Balance to stay upright.

Makes me think ...
Balance is part of most aspects of living.

Obvious to see in many physical actions,
Swimmer on end of diving board,
Ballerina twirling on toes,
Rock-climbers scaling sheer surfaces.

Inside balance required to meet
Demands / needs of life's interactions,
May be difficult.

Jobs, relationships, volunteer tasks,
Can pull energy and time into
Lopsided roles.

To have Balance in those times ...
Much harder than the obvious
Pushing down on
Bicycle pedals.

I'm thinking about Balance,
Inside and outside.

May I relish that, when it's part of my scene.

May I notice and shift
When things are lopsided.
One-bit-at-a-time.

Hugs,
Lin

  1. I love this entire post, Lin.

Especially the birthday portrait of you and Bob, but all of the wisdom and images and words.
