Taking the Lid Off My Life

My dear buddies,

I would like to have "beamed" each of you into Northfield to be with me for one of my talks. Thanks for good vibes.

There were
Animated listeners,
           Still listeners,
  Laughing listeners,
     Smiling listeners,

Listeners of many styles. Each a gift to have as audience.

Folks came to me afterward
And gave congratulations, appreciation—
Lovely to receive.

Very interesting were stories people shared, 
Sparked by some part of my story:

“I so related when you said you
Buy highest quality bike tires,” one woman said.
“I run a support group and always tell my participants
To buy best quality in items that assist their life tasks.”

"I've taken my lid off
By getting a puppy,”
This dear 85-year-old grinned in telling of
"Getting a puppy at my age!"

"Bunch of us went bowling, first time,
Reminding each other that Lin said
'It's never too late to say yes!'"

Next time I speak I'll have paper for
Jotting down these affirming stories.

Some logistical things I learned:
Set up table and mic so I can move prompt cards
With right hand.
Left hand got a bit mixed up!
Stand in open area to have easy access
To post-talk conversation.

I'm guessing I'll learn so much
As I get to tell people my story—
Can't wait!
