Where Did You Get Help This Week?

Three weeks from July 11 until Empire State Bike Tour.

You know that I think
Asking for Help is
BIG and BRAVE.

Lots of us grew up thinking / knowing
We could not show the vulnerability
Of needing help.

I’d say that the help we get,
Lets us do the job,
      stay on course,
               meet the mark,
More effectively than struggling alone.

I had that happen this week.
Bob & I took a two-day trip.
Willmar, MN area has bike trail.
We’d never been there.

Worrisome start —
Couldn’t find our bike trail-side
Motel in Spicer, MN!

Back down highway again.
Gas station had one woman filling tank.
When asked,
She gave directions.
I wrote rapidly.

Mid-sentence, she said,
“Follow me. I’ll take you there.”
We followed, for three miles.
Making a U-turn,
She put us in front of our Motel!

Following day, we biked to Paynesville, MN,
End of marked trail.
That day, trail ended in construction area
Complete with wet, black road tar.

To a construction worker emerging from pickup —
“How do you get to local park?”
He answered in a very non-MN drawl,
“I’ll help you.”

Whipped out phone,
Tapped buttons.
Drawled clear directions to wonderful park.
Just what we wanted.
Great Help.

It works for little and big things.
If your first “ask” doesn’t land what’s needed,
Ask & Ask until you get it.
Know that you have been
So Smart and So Brave!

I’m cheering your Bravery!

Hugs,
Lin
