What Do You Notice In An “Ordinary” Week?

Wednesday, July 27th, 2022

Reviewing the contents of each day,
I often pass over and just say,
“It’s really so small,
No meaning at all”.
Deserving instead, a big Hooray!

Unlike a week containing “specials”,
Like the wedding weekend,
Or an outing to a new experience,
An “Ordinary” week can leave
Very few retrievable memories.

I rode my bike, and —
Oh, yes,
Late summer flowers are blooming now.
Cheery yellow! several varieties.
Interesting how late summer brings
Cheery yellow blossoms.

Weather was ghastly hot, and —
Oh, yes, I had comfort of air-conditioned home.

I missed physically being with that gathering of dear people,
Together for wedding weekend, and —
Oh, yes,
I had electronic connections with several family members.

When I give a talk,
I remind folks that my bike rides are
Metaphor for moving in life.
That where ever you arrive at end of each bike day,
Add up to get you to your destination.
Each day matters.

Smallest, most ordinary, from each day,
Is a thread for each day’s tapestry.

All those create
“Pattern-of-the-week”.
Together they weave my life.

Some predictable weeks,
Some splashing with exuberance,
All are a picture of what I noticed.

May I notice!

Hugs,
Lin

Destination.
Hole in the middle of the trail. Plant eruption or digging creature?

Hi Lin,

I completely agree with your philosophy!

(And the photos are lovely.)

Love, Leslie

Thank you, Leslie! The bulk of our lives are “ordinary” and I don’t want to miss a minute through overlooking their importance! Love, Lin

My oh My, Thanks for the reminder!
Reminding me not to overlook the specialness and blessings of each day!
