Rest Day Delights

Nyack, NY: Rest Day

Day 9 Empire State Trail

Tuesday, August 10, 2021

What is fun down time for you?

I've had two long hill walks.
(Lest we get out of shape on rest day)
Neither involving bicycle.

From & to our hilltop motel,
To Nyack main street,
Mid-morning wander.

Store-front looking,
One bike shop browse.

Dip into used book store that looked like
Movie set for "Harry Potter.”
Surely, pulling out specific book would have
Rolled back the ceiling high jumbled stacks,
Admitting me to some sort of magic.

Real destination:
Nyack's Carnegie Public Library.

Charming, very old original portion,
Two attractive, well-designed additions.
Together house extensive options, books, services,
Plus view out over Hudson River.

Introducing myself using
Decades & current family library connections,
I am especially welcomed.
Fun.

Hugs,
Lin

Limerick:

When I searched today for a used book,
I followed Bob's words for the best look.
These Library Friends,
Had book odds & ends.
My best choice is the one that I took!

  1. I really enjoyed your remarks and photos about and from you Rest Day. I was raised about a 30 to 45 minutes drive from Nyack, NY. It is a busy area with historical buildings and more.

It is wonderful that you are part of this excursion on bicycle!

  2. Hi, Lin,
What a joy to have worked so hard to earn a rest day. It must make the rest day an extra special blessing. There is a lesson somewhere there…

I had a nice lunch with Bob on Monday. He is doing well, and chose to walk home from Bridge Square, so that was good for him.

thinking of you and all your adventures with much admiration!
    Best, Linda

    1. Linda, thank you for spending time with dear Bob! You are wise in your observation about working so hard making a rest day that much better. 🙂

  3. Gorgeous woodwork in old Library. Wood is becoming scarce and very expensive. Thanks for sharing this treasure.
