No Limerick this week.
Fever has fried creativity right out of my brain.

My Mama would have said,
“You look like the Wreck of the Hesperus.”
Translation: “You look like a shipwreck.”

Or she would flip the consonants,
“You look like the Heck of the Wresperis.”
Same translation.

Mama was funny.
She also meant
“Don’t go out anywhere you will be seen!”

Bob and I have Covid.
We feel poorly.
Still, this is an opportunity to
Notice Granular Gratitude,
The small things that are working.

Bob’s very sore throat is enough better that
He can swallow
 the large medicinal capsules
Prescribed for him.

We have enough tolerance
To be able to eat
 smallish meals.

We have a couch exactly long enough,
Where I can sleep
While we try to give ourselves “social distance.”
With blankets carefully arranged,
So comfy!
Scooting my back against back of couch,
It’s almost as though I am gently held.

Northfield Public Library delivers.
Librarian will pick up books to be returned.
And leave 3 books Bob has requested.
When I have a prescription to pick up,
CVS will deliver or do curbside pickup.

No picture this week either.
Sick people aren’t photogenic.
Like my mother said!

Sending each of you vibes for good health.
It is precious
.

Hugs,
Lin

  1. Hi Lin and Bob,
So very sorry to hear this news! We are in New Mexico at the moment, Ghost Ranch,0therwise I would make some food for you. Hoping for a speedy recovery. On the bright side, does this mean I get to see you back in person in church? I have missed you two!
    Take care, Claire and Jim

  2. Lin, So sorry to hear you two are under the weather. Use the down time to rest and imagine your next ride! Don’t push yourselves too quickly to get well. Take care. Margaret S.

  3. Feel better both of you. You escaped COVID on Nancy’s bike ride so how do I think this happened?
    Susan

    1. Thanks, Susan! In this case, I can blame Bob (ha,ha) and living in close quarters to someone who is sick. Dreaming of bike rides! Here’s to better days to come. 🙂

  4. Sending you and Bob all the best wishes for a swift recovery. So sorry you were caught in the COVID clutches. Hugs! Bonnie Jean😘

  5. Hey there, Lin and Bob,

So sorry to hear you’re dealing with covid now. Hitting us vaccinated seniors now. Just wanted to tell you I tested positive in early March, took paxlovid for 5 day, tested negative for 2 days but came back on the rebound for another 5 more days…..hope you don’t have same experience. Luckily, i wasn’t too sick, but just tired with minor cold symptoms. Take care, rest and get back soon!

    Shari

    1. Glad you weren’t too sick! Yes–there are so many stories of different experiences with this. Keeping the best outcome in mind! 🙂

  6. So sorry Covid caught up with you. Thanks for sharing. Feel better quickly. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

  7. My Mama would have said,
“You look like the Wreck of the Hesperus.”
I had not heard that expression in many years. My mother was also the one who use to say it to me.

Hope you two feel better as each day passes.

  8. Dear Bob and Lin,

Sympathy now, and wishes for thorough recovery in the near future.
    Love,
    Patsy

  9. So glad you’re feeling better, on the mend so to speak,
Lindy said neither of you needed to be hospitalized. A huge plus.
It is cold here, wind with a bite. It stays above freezing, though the roof is covered with frost every morning.
Sun peaks out between the clouds occasionally.
Foggy and has no hint of snow in the lowlands. Mountains are blanketed in snow. Very beautiful.
Garden is abundant with spring flowers. Cherry trees are in full bloom.

Much to be happy about. Warm weather is on its way.
April 1, a fool’s day for some of us. A promise of more flowers to come.

Covid isn’t as scary as it was. But scary enough.
    Keep getting better.

    Perrilee

  10. Get well soon, dear friends!!!

  11. I am so sorry you got the awful Covid. My prayers are with you both. I know you will be up and around soon
    Love. Becky
