Northern MN: Day 7

Hibbing to Grand Rapids, 44 miles

Friday, June 23, 2017

More than one side to the story...

Started today tired.
I guess I was, as I did
"Cross Training" on two hills.
(Means: I got off and pushed bike up the slope!)

Info about Trail must have been old,
As Mesabi Trail is paved with exception of some
Far north miles.

Story from two days ago ...
Keewatin, MN.
I entered gas station "C" store,
Following man through doorway.

Over his shoulder, he said,
"How do you like our trail?
You better like it.
You stole it."

"We built that trail for our four-wheelers,
State took it over.
Banned motor vehicles.
You better like it.
You stole it."

Whew! Glad he wasn't belligerent.
He certainly was still angry.

I have no idea about history of Trail.
Guess I heard one side of it.

We have just arrived back in Grand Rapids.
Two miles away from motel,
Rain poured down.
Sheets of water blown by wind,
Billowed down pavement toward us.
Drenched!

Hooray we have place to dry out,
Get warm.
Lucky timing.

Tomorrow is "Rest Day.”
We will rest.
Lunch date with Libby Muir at her residence.
Maybe find the Library.
Take it easy.

Sending all good wishes to each.
May you have a dry spot to hole up when you get caught in life's "rain.”

Hugs,
Lin

Frequent view today...

Lunch at Nashwauk Deli/Gas Station. Nice salad!

"I think I can" or "Follow the yellow brick road!"

Yes! I thought I could!

Roadside wildflowers abound
