New Thoughts, New Insights

Bike and green space ... love it!

Confused when you're hearing or seeing,
An unknown that's real, you're agreeing.
Expand your first thought.
You'll find that you've got,
Some new ways of thinking and being.

Has a new thought startled you lately?

Today while riding,
I had the strangest phrase come to mind...
"This bike trail is Very Tall."

We know that height isn't a usual trail descriptor.
What was that about?

At the time
There was some wind.

In the open parts of trail,
It was windy.
But in areas sheltered with vegetation
And tall Trees,
I was riding in calm, quiet air.

Only the highest tops of very tall trees
Had any wind motion or
Any wind sound.

Sounds from tree-tip-tops
Made the trail become Very Tall.

Still not a usual measure,
But just right for that time.
Something I hadn't noticed.

I wonder if I look more closely—
Listen too—
Maybe I'll find other descriptors.

Perhaps when I'm with someone,
If I come with calm attention,
I'll find depth I haven't noticed before.
And appreciate a new-to-me dimension.

I like that possibility.
I'll try it.

May you have the chance to
Notice.

Hugs,
Lin

  1. In the first section of this piece I saw metaphor possibilities; in the latter section, I see connections with others…especially like the phrase “coming with calm attention.” Beautiful, and so are you.

    Love,
    Patsy
