Holiday Wish from My Heart

Keep Stretching!

Sunday, December 22, 2019

Hello My Friend,

Are you hearing wishes  for
Good Season, Happy Holiday,
Merry Christmas?

I'm glad for those holiday wishes
I add mine,
From my heart to yours.

I send my good wishes
For you and your life.
Especially this:

Keep Stretching,

What are holidays like for you?
Difficult for me.

Shorter daylight,
Minnesota winter grey,
Flurry & activity that makes me anxious,
Decades-old memories that taint celebration.
Feeling conflicted …
Inconvenient, for sure.

Still, I know how to
Ask for help
Connect with others,
Find humor in the hard stuff.

Those things help,
Just like on a bike trip!

My bicycle is put to bed in our basement,
Covered to keep several months of garage dust
Off most of bike.
One-day-at-a-time I am riding the
Stationary bike in our building.
Hooray, for me.

We do fun jigsaw puzzles,
Take turns reading aloud,
Eat good food.
Watch Bob get stronger bit-by-bit,
Every day a marker for healing.

I think of the sentence,
"Stretch for ways to give life to my days.”
Important at any time.
Especially relevant for me during winter.

What stretches you?
What stretch of any size feels worthwhile?
Delivers a sense of accomplishment with your effort,
A stretch that gives life to your days.

As you are "stretching,”
I have great faith in your ability to be marvelous,
Because you are…
Marvelous.

Love to each of you,
Lin

Limerick:

We live most in life by engaging,
Whether we're young or we're aging,
With each stretch we make,
With each risk we take,
It's marvelous what we are staging.
