Bike Season Ending

Looking toward season ahead

Monday, October 22, 2018

Hello My Friends,

Our proposed three-day bike trip—
Not happening.
Surprise trip that I was going to tell you,
Didn't pan out.

Weather forecast of high wind
On open roads,
Derailed plan.

Our Cannon Trail ride,
Protected from wind, wearing multiple layers,
Was sole biking for two of us now.

Weather is moving beyond comfortable riding.
Actually,

Pretty much “fair-weather riding”
Is my style.

Would love to tell you
That I am intrepid bicyclist,
Whatever the conditions.
That isn't true.

Now is time for me to figure out
My "stretch for ways to keep life in my days,"
So I can get through winter in good spirits.

Regularly going to exercise classes
To keep me moving, is start.
Moving with others I'm learning by name.
"Connect with Others" is key I tell audiences.
Good words for me to heed.

Maybe I'll keep track of miles ridden on
Stationary bike.
Maybe I'll use those miles for some imaginary destination.
We will see.

I will check in with you around Thanksgiving,
Catching you up on any bike news / life news.
If you think of some group for which I could be speaker,
Let me know.

That is one of my favorite off-bike activities.

Hugs to each and all of you,
Lin

Limerick:

As Earth tilts to dark on its axis,
That darkness and cold weather tax-es,
My goal of good cheer.
’Till springtime is here.
And wintertime's cold grip relaxes.

Tree Damage from 10 or so tornados through here recently.

Happy Halloween to all from Sequoia and Scott!

Some of our cold-season fun: Puzzles!

Granddaughter Sequoia and Scott visited us the other day--what a delight!
