Sudden Turn

A great start to our short Texas vacation; driven to highway's end. Photo by Ruth Wilkinson

When you think you know the horizon,
You may be surprised at what lies on
Your journey ahead.
What will be instead—
Of visions you had set your eyes on?

What sudden turns has life taken for you?

I'm writing from MN.
Not what we had planned!
We were to be in TX
Until end of February.

Pelicans on watch...

While in South Padre Island,
Bob had a "medical incident.”
His choice was to return home,
To doctors who know him,
Medical routes he knows,
And most of all...
On-site friend-and-family-support.

He spent two days in Brownsville TX
Valley Regional Medical Center.
Efficient medical attention
Some testing which would lead to more testing.
Bob released himself
Without physician agreement.
(Oh my…Daring for we "toe-the-line" folks.)

Top: early birthday treat for Scott. Bottom: Poised for lunch out, last day in Texas.

We stayed in TX one more day,
Regaining stamina, having time with Scott
Who came to TX to support us.
That one more
Was a day of appreciating
Pelicans, tasty seafood, warm air temps.

Then ...return to MN.
With efficient, caring help
On both ends of journey,
Travel home was smooth.

Interesting how hard it is to stay
"In the moment" of happenings.
Not follow one's mind to
What might be on horizon.

Definitely one-day-at-a-time.
As we know whatever there is to know,
I'll tell you…so you can
Send Best Vibes.

May you stay present in your moments.

Hugs,
Lin

  1. Oh my! Oh my!

Randy and I are concerned and definitely will begin to support you both with prayer. We are thankful that Bob will receive the medical care from the physicians and clinic/hospital with which he and you are familiar.

Please greet Bob with a hug from Randy and me… and ask him to give you a hug from Randy and me. In a few days, I will be in touch with you, Lin, if that would not be overwhelming as Bob and you adjust.

    Much love,
    Muriel

  2. May peace and care from family, friends, and doctors be with both of you. My prayers and thoughts come to you from Kauai where I am spending a week with friends – along with wind, grey skies, and rain. Yesterday,we took a glorious walk along the coast while watching HUGE waves roll in. Am sending this energy to you, as well, along with much love.
