Someday List

I urge taking action, not waiting.
To do the things you're percolating.
Arrange in a way
For NOW, not someday.
Completion will be stimulating.

What’s on your “someday” list?

I am on a soapbox today,
With megaphone. Loud.

You have heard me say this:
Don't Wait. Do It Now.
Little words, Big choices. Life enhancing.

This comes about from my
Clearing, sorting a closet corner.
Storage spot for bike related publications.

That's where the stack of
"Rails to Trails" magazines were.
Several years of articles describing
U.S.rail trails... off-road bike possibilities.

Possible bike trips
Perfect for Bob and me.
Ones we put on a "someday" list.

That someday-window has passed.
Not a fit for our "now.”
A jarring realization.

Clockwise from left: Resource of Possibilities, Oft-used MN bicycle map, Iowa bike resource.

Back on my soapbox ...

Do it now is about any activity.
Might be finishing Grama's half-complete quilt.
Or the genealogy,
           tap dance lessons you've considered,
trip to some longed for destination,
donating your collection to "right" spot.
Examples for this are endless.

Point is to take action, while you can.

All those stopper points you pull out
Too late/ soon
Too old/ young
Too hard/ much
Too, too, too .....fill in the blank.

Figure out what's absolutely real,
What's an excuse.

If it matters to you
Move it from the "someday" pile.
Make it happen.

It feels sad to see dusty reminders
Of things you considered doing
And kept on your back burner.
Your backburner isn't an action spot.

Assuming you have endless seasons
To do your “someday” dream,
Isn't real.

Life changes.

Take a look at what you CAN do.
And ... DO IT NOW.

I know this big realization is a directive for me.
Right now, I can't tell you
What I'm going to follow through with.

I do know that when I come across
Some collection of info about
Intriguing possibilities,
Or notice that my mind keeps
Drifting to some sort-of-dream,
I will run it through …

Still of interest?
How can I make it happen?

I'm pushing on me too.
Let's make things happen.

Hugs.
Lin

Happy folks, visit with son Scott.

  1. How did you know I started taking tap dance lessons. I’m hoping to progress from terrible to bad by Christmas! Now you inspire me to do something else.
