Resounding Joy

Hilarious fun—all wearing random dark glasses.

Our "gather-in" featuring singing,
Is still in my heart's "ears" with ringing.
Harmonious sound,
Energy profound.
Both playful and heartfelt … joy bringing.

What’s your Gratitude Highlight?

Thanksgiving weekend was exactly that..
Feeling such gratitude for time spent
With extended family, all loved ones.

A "gather-in" meal on Saturday with
Sixteen people.
Four generations.
Two in oldest—Bob and I.
Two in youngest—our great grans.

Lots of excellent food.
Pho (Vietnamese soup) with countless
Add-in condiments.
Four pies, different varieties,
All Gluten-Free. (Wow!)

Multiple small group conversations,
Creating an energy buzz of connection.
Loved it all.

And my favorite?
Our singing!

Food-blessing songs which always include
"Jingle Bells" and "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.”
A few rounds.
Some of what we call car-songs ...
Songs sung in the car when traveling
As a young family.
Fun!

Bag of dark glasses made for moments of laughter and fun.

Highlight for me was just before we parted.
A few from different generations
Stood circled to sing,
"Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.”

Oh! Oh! Gorgeous!
Harmonies made the air tingle with
Beautiful sound.
Some of those Bruce progeny
Have an amazing sense of pitch and blend.
It shook joyful tears onto my cheeks.

My dream for several years
Has been to once again
Hear my kids sing together.
Dream fulfilled.

I am truly lucky.

Sending wishes for sights and sounds
That touch your heart.

Hugs,
Lin

  1. Awww, I can well imagine it! Brings up lovely memories of those voices in song and laughter at the Bruce house. Jen

  2. Lin,
The blessings that Bob and you experienced at Thanksgiving are a blessing for me to read and see!
    Love,
    Muriel

  3. One of my first memories of the Bruce family was your amazing singing. I had never experienced that in just one family before…. a lovely memory and gift from you all that I carry with me.

  4. Lin – I love the joy and love shared in this post – the age spread, the sun glasses and the singing. One of my earliest memories is singing in the car as we drove home from my grandparents.Especially if it was after dark and the moon followed us home. “I’ve been working on the railroad . . .”
    Much love –
    Hope
