What a thrill!

What a wonderful time!!!
Telling my bicycle story.

Classmates of sixty years ago
Present and attentive,
Listening to my tale of
How these bicycle adventures started.

Newsletter committee planned
With careful detail.
Good name tags,
Good food,
Podium and microphone.
Tables filled for eating and listening.

Bev Collier read own creative poem
Telling of Lin and bicycling
As introduction for talk.

Audience responsive;
Laughing in places I thought funny.
Applauding my bicycle word songs.

I saw tears wiped from cheeks
After story of connection
Grandfather with grandson.
Unexpected bonus of MN -> IN ride
With sixteen year old grandson.

Committee gave me gifts!
Olympic medal, engraved.
Yellow shirt;
Like Tour de France yellow shirt.
With snazzy, blingy outline of bicycle.
My first ever blingy clothing!
Certificate for "Riding Perseverance,"
Signed by attendees.

Humbling experience.
Such an honor to get to speak,
Be heard
Bring laughter,
Maybe touch some hearts.

Thinking on the event,
Realizing each of us has story from
Years of journey.
All different,
All important,
All shaping our lives and others.
Powerful thing to share.

I had a wonderful time telling
Bicycle parts of my story.
Truly,
Privilege and gift to me.

Thank you for receiving it!

I will check in with you again
As 60th Reunion happens and wraps up.

Hugs to each,
Lin

A Limerick to Honor this Event:
To speak to that group was an honor.
Receiving such gifts heaped upon her,
Brought humility.
To be there you see,
Was privilege she thought was beyond her.

Speaking to this lovely Pre-60th Reunion audience in Cheyenne, WY—gorgeous space, isn't it!

Rehearsing my talk and silly bike songs... the practice paid off!

Wearing my bike clothes was a new twist in my speaking performance!

Singing one of my "silly bike songs" at the Pre-60th Reunion Luncheon

On my weekly coating call... The challenge and pleasure of having someone remind me of my potential!

Without internet at the Brice cabin, this is a trip we've frequently made, parking outside the Centennial Library for its wireless access. Necessary tool for sharing my message!

This lady bronc sculpture in Cheyenne—"Breakin' Through"—personifies my message!

  4. Lin: Judy and I have enjoyed and been inspired following your Minnesota to Wyoming adventure. Your text, limericks, and photos made us feel that we were accompanying you, fighting the wind, unwinding in the open spaces, and traveling through such wonderful country. Thank you for taking is along and CONGRATULATIONS for facing the challenges of the biking and giving your talk and for overcoming all.

Our best to Bob. Love, John and Judy Reed
