Now Which Way
Wednesday June 18, 2025
Being lost is quite scary and fearful.
It moves me to being quite tearful.
I do the hard task.
I go forth and ask.
Help found moves my outlook to cheerful.
What’s the fear that makes you step back?
Somehow, I was well-trained in
imagining The Worst Case Scenario.
I know all about "What Ifs" and my mind
Running amok.
As we age, we face changes of many kinds.
It's easy to let fear keep us from starting
Something we've wanted to do.
So many fears...
Fear of mental decline.
Fear of losing stamina.
Fear of losing our way in unfamiliar environments.
Of getting lost.
That one's mine... big time.
On a bike, backtracking several miles
Is the pits! I'll have added mileage.
U-turn for backtracking in your car
Is easy-peasy.
On a bike it can take an hour or more.
How will I find my way when
My map-reading skills
Got off the train
A couple of stations back?

Left: So much to be aware of: Road sign, Stop sign, Dead End. Right: Curves ahead—Stay in your lane!
I've learned to ask for help.
If by myself and near a gas station,
I ask directions of
Somebody working there.
Amazing how often the employees
Aren't local—maybe general area—
But they really can’t help.
So I go to cars, ask drivers.
Or big delivery trucks.... they can help.
On Nancy and Ken's Company Rides,
I ride with Nancy every day,
Or pedal behind John G. if he is on the trip.
I do those things so I
Don't lose my way.
Fear is real.
Remember though, that
Living the adventure,
Moving on down your road
Is a thrill.
Notice your fear, but
Don't let it stop you.
May I have the courage to Ask for Help.
So I can embrace the joy waiting for me,
Just beyond Fear.
Hugs,
Lin
