Wet Day—Aitken, MN—10 miles

Find humor in the hard stuff...

Today was one of those days for us.
Woke to heavy rain,
Meaning that we chose to change plan for day.

The hard part was not highway hills,
Wind in our faces,
Mechanical problems…

It was figuring out
How to be flexible enough to
Configure day that satisfied hopes for trip.
(Particularly, my hopes).

Packed out of our Grand Rapids room.
Explored some MN roads we had never driven before,
Saw views of Mississippi River new to us,
Eventually checked in to Aitken motel.

From local Fair Ground,
Went for short ride on low traffic county road.
Into head wind on way out.

Which means, wind assisted
Flying on way back.

Smooth pavement,
Flat road,
Wind at back,
Creates different world for me.

Pedal hard,
Zip along,
Only focus is the ride.

Makes me happy.

Sending hugs to each of you.
