Northern MN: Day 12

Return Home to Northfield

Wednesday, June 28, 2017

Back home!

Food was first stop,
El Tequila in Northfield to share plate of nachos.

Passing by "Peggy Prowe Bridge"
Solid structure spanning Cannon River,
Graced with bikes as sculpture & planters;
I'm reminded that lovely bike options,
Are just outside my door.

Drove home through curtains of rain—
Some light—
Like the sheer curtains Mom had next to windows.

Some rain "curtains" very dark & heavy,
Like weighty, velvet drapery
Edging olden days' stage.

I remember being fourteen years old,
Standing on stage as M.C. for
Junior High Talent Show,
Nearly enfolded by heavy velvet.

Microphone in hand,
Welcoming audience,
Thanking them for coming.

"I feel like the little bird that swallowed a fuzzy worm—
Tickled to death!"

Where do you suppose I heard that joke?

Doing laundry now, settling in.
Have appointment for bike check-up.
Tour de Wyoming starts July 16th—
You’ll be hearing from me then!

Thanks to each of you.

Hugs,
Lin

First stop: El Tequila Cafe!

Bike sculptures by Peggy Prowe Bridge —where bike trail crosses Cannon River

Bikes as public art: sculpture and planters!

Clothing piled for first batch of laundry—my "grounding" task.

  1. Welcome home and thanks for sharing your 12 day adventure!! I loved every day.

    Enjoy a good rest.
