Albany to Johnstown, NY: 47 mile ride
Day 13 Empire State Trail Ride
Saturday, August 14, 2021
What refreshment do you need?
Today we rode.
Weather, much cooler.
The remaining group,
Making up our "riding band" for next days
Numbers nine.
Seven "paying guests,” like me.
Two leaders, Nancy and Ken.
Nine of us.
It took me nearly all day to get numbers straight.
Ride today, was primarily on trails.
Some stretches, a separate trail.
Some miles, trail was an edge of highway.
I DO like trails!
No motorized vehicles sharing bicycle space,
Much more relaxed.
Afternoon's last ten miles,
Open highway,
Where we noticed wind.
Enough to remind me
Wind requires another level of "work.”
Did I tell you?
About ten days ago,
Ken & Nancy got word from SAG person
Scheduled to start today,
Not coming; due to serious family illness.
SAG for first two weeks, Jean.
Jean, was in group that just left.
Today Ken drove van & set out lunch.
I got to ride behind Nancy for today.
Whew! That keeps me on route.
I don't know how the next days will work.
I'm taking it one-day-at-a-time.
Very grateful to be able to follow today.
Hugs,
Lin
Limerick:
I'm missing the people who left us.
All added their foibles, a big plus.
Our group now is small,
To ride the next haul.
Collecting just nine may mean less fuss!

The photos help me with envisioning your travels. I am cheering you onward, Lin.
Muriel
Thank you, Muriel! YEs, photos help! 🙂
WOW! Wind IS work
Everyday a new adventure
Wind at your back
Given to you by your friends.
I hope to ride in the Tour de Tucson, in November, need to be training, but it is still too hot for any training rides–at least too hot for me–95 right now which is cooler than it has been. YOU are my inspiration. I am my own motivator, even after my stroke!!
Cheering you on
Know that each day
You have friends
Who are helping you pedal!!
Love to you!
Your “old” classmate from CHS/McCormick/Cheyenne
Beverly, I love your naming of how so many supportive thoughts create the wind at my back and the strength in my legs. You are so right! xox
I’ll be cheering you on for the Tour de Tucson!
It is always so enjoyable and uplifting reading about your adventures on two wheels! Keep having a great time! Hugs.
Thank you for your words, Irene!
