MN Mini-Tour: Day 8

Preston to Rochester, MN: 37 miles

Wednesday, September 28, 2016

I was thinking this morning
That I didn't mention the really
Great thing about yesterday's ride.

Trail meant we got to ride side by side.
Didn't talk much,
Just enjoyed being together on trail.

Often I find that I don't notice
Some good thing
Until it is not there.
Then I realize how much
It adds to my life when it is present.

Now today...
Better than I expected!
Middle of the night
Much worry about forecast strong wind
In our faces.

Windy,
Yes it was.
Hard work—and manageable.

Rain as we started,
Then intermittent,
Mostly heavy mist.

Feeling chilly,
Wanting break,
Stopped in Chatfield, MN.

Attractive, new Cattle Coffee Co,
Warm in temperature,
Warm in atmosphere,
Exactly right place
For good coffee, chai latte,
Snack.

Our sturdy and readable Rochester
Bicycle map,
Let us ride into city
Without being lost.
Whew! I value that.

We even found our way to outstanding
Restaurant with extensive GF menu.
Made us happy to return to it,
And as part of bicycle trip.

Now we are tucked in to our motel,
Resting and happy.

Hugs to each,
Lin

Limerick:
Today we were on the road riding,
Together, not riding beside-ing.
We traded up front
'Cause that takes the brunt
Of wind that can slow up our gliding.
