How to Move Your Mind

Wednesday, September 10, 2025

When struggling, clogged in your thinking,
When creative thoughts are not linking.
Get out there and move.
You will find that you've
Entered a spot of thoughts linking.

How do you move your mind when it’s bogged down?

Our town's annual festival happened last weekend.
Defeat of Jesse James Days.
Northfield, MN is historic location
Of last bank raid by Jesse James Gang,
Which failed—that was the end of those outlaws.

An unlikely event to celebrate has
Turned into a major event offering.
Every sort of activity for townies and visitors.
Clogged traffic, closed streets,  noise ... Argh!

Clockwise from upper left: Ferris wheel and porta potties—critical for any carnival. For three days we are a town of food stalls and food trucks. Carnival set-up. Anything your palette might desire.

Food trucks, carnival, antique cars, music,
Bingo ... something for everybody.

Rotary Club sponsors a bike ride.
Multiple ride lengths possible.
I signed up for the 25-mile ride.

Morning of ride was very chilly.
45 degrees F., cold for early Sept.
I vacillated. GO ride, it's right here.
NO, too much hassle to layer up.

Left: Takes a whole crew to do what happens pre-ride. Right: This will be the finish line.

I did layer up.
Went to registration desk / start point,
Then rode.

Very soon I was thinking
This feels great in both
Body and Mind.

Especially felt like "Toning the Mind.”
With physical activity,
We think of "Toning the Body.”

True, yes, and we are
Toning the Mind also.

Brilliant advice in the Masie Dobbs book series
By Jacqueline Winspear—
Coming from Dr. Maurice Blanche.
"Move the body, Move the mind."

It is truly helpful.

Cobweb-ish morning mind?
Unable to come up with alternatives?
Caught in a mind-swirl with no exit?

Move!
Walk, stretch, bike,
Dance, wiggle-and-jiggle.

"Move the body, move the mind."

May you "tone" body and mind.
As you move in your life.

Hugs.

  1. Oh such good advice about toning the mind, along those same thoughts, I read this week about remembering to add ONE WORD to be able to do the impossible — to the words "I can't" learn to add the small word "yet" — often I want to say "I can't do ____" – do to age or physical inability – like riding my bike 25 miles, but when I add the word "I want to do a 25 mile bike ride, but I can't…YET!" brings new possibility to my mind and reality to prepping my body for what it CAN ultimately do 🙂
