Heandwinds and Life

The sign says it all...

When all around you, wind is blowing,
With sand so it looks like it's snowing—
Hang in there, my Friend.
In time it will end.
Envisioning ease where you’re going.

Is life giving you “headwinds?”

Twice I have rented a bike.
Ridden outside, here in TX.
Two very different experiences.

Day One—no wind.
Best ride ever, in the
Three years we have come here.
I pedaled, sang, noticed sand dunes.
Soaked up sunshine and snow-free roads.

Today was Day Two—very windy.
I went because I could
First ride into headwind.
Struggle first, then wind at my back.

Struggle it was.
Barely able to make slow progress,
Wheels turning forward in tiny increments.

I noticed sand sheeting its way
Across highway.
Like ground blizzards in Wyoming
I remember from childhood.

Bob on the beach, watching the construction expansion into the sea.

Of course, I thought of life metaphor
Wind brings to my mind when
I struggle with bike headwind,

It is SO hard to have that
Strong force—making forward
Movement nearly impossible.

When life's days hold
Loss, disappointments, pain—
Positive progress seems improbable.

Presenter came from Alligator Sanctuary, with 3 to 4-year-old alligator.

Those times when life's
Circumstances are positive,
We ease our way
With possibilities,
Nearly effortlessly.

Hard sometimes to trust
That the wind will change.

I send you strong vibes
For weather that eases
Your life.

Hugs,
Lin

  1. Lin,

I am interested in the photos and your insight! The sign "Watch for Sand" on a sand-blown road made me laugh out loud.Enjoy TX, and hello to Bob.

  2. Dear Lin, Thanks for your words. Again, they feel like they are specifically meant for me. You speak the truth… keep it coming.
Say hi to Bob and enjoy your time in the warmth and the sun facing each day as it comes.

    Big hugs,
    Barb
