Gratitude Prism

Trail right out my door!

We've heard of observing your attitude,
Suggestions to lean into gratitude.
As small as that sounds,
It can change some bounds.
Changes of differing magnitudes.

Have you been chasing what you’re missing?

My in-box had a message from
Hay House CEO, Reid Tracy.
Hay House is a publishing company.

I expected a pitch for some newly-published book.
Instead, Mr Tracy spoke of a book
Encouraging daily listing of
Three items of gratitude
From your day.

We've heard that before.

It really was Mr Tracy's response
That caught my attention.

"Instead of chasing what we are missing—
Notice what's already right in front of you,
What's working, who's helping,
What's quietly beautiful in your life.”

Caught me right where I need to notice.

Currently coming toward the end of easy
Out-door biking weather,
I'm bemoaning
Not having "lived it/ biked it" more.

As I write down my miles biked,
This season's total is smaller than I'd like.

I usually have one out-of-town several-day
Bike trip during the season.
I don't this year.

My favorite bike-trail ride-buddy
Is Bob, whose balance
Doesn't allow bicycling anymore.

Definitely chasing what's missing
As I list these.

"Noticing what's already right in front of me” ...

A bike trail starts right in front of my home.
I've gotten to ride about 600 miles on
Safe, smooth, well-maintained trail
Simply by wheeling my bike out of the garage.

My "ride-buddy" IS my life-buddy.
Mr. Tracy says to note what's "quietly beautiful" in our life.
I'd say this fits as I speak of life-buddy.

Not always, of course.
Any of you who have been partnered for a length of time
Know that description doesn't fit every day.

The "who's helping" …

A friend giving me time and attention.
Store clerk who lets me know when a shipment arrives.
Bank employee who gently steers me through confusing wording.
Adult kids who reach out to check in.
Fab bike mechanic, Ben Witt, who keeps my amazing bike "purring.”
Anyone I ask for help who takes time to give it.

Ben Witt, Bike Mechanic Extraordinaire

Reminder has shifted my attention.
"Notice what's already right in front of me."
Hooray!

Pull out your gratitude prism, my Friend.
Notice.

Hugs,
Lin
