Fresh Moments
Wednesday, June 11,2025
I want to let this day surprise me,
Unfolding sharply for me to see.
Not pre-shaped by word,
By something I've heard.
Be part; not being an absentee.
Some evening you are asked,
“How was your day?”
How do you answer?
When I am asked, my mind
Sifts through those hours.
Probably my answer is one word...
Great. Nice. Hard. Exhausting.
My reminder to me these last few days:
It takes a variety of adjectives to
Describe any period of time.
The answer depends on
What time you are asking about.
Ups and downs make up any time period,
So if I bother to notice
I will find even those Hard Days
Had some lighter moments.
From my soap-box here, I also think
Days should not be given labels in advance.
Tomorrow will be such fun.
Days are best just lived bit by bit.
Live that day without the expectation
Shaped by a descriptor.
I can miss too much in my expectation.
Or judge without space for
Appreciating what's shown up.
Perhaps non-labeling will keep me
Noticing with fresh eyes.

Clockwise from upper left: Connecting with Margaret Chesley, artist, creator, owner. Colorful bags, lampshades, happy! Color upon color—Banbury Cross Marimeko fabric, Lin against bright, happy blue.
An outing recently—
A wonderful experience always—
Being surrounded by vibrant color at
Banbury Cross studio,
Included moments of visiting with
Margaret Chesley, artist, creator, owner.
Heart-filling time of color and connection.
May you soak up Zest
In parts of each day.
Hugs,
Lin
