Cedar Rapids to West Branch, IA: 43 miles
How do you turn things around on a difficult day?
I did not ride today.
Others rode in 90+ heat.
Ten days ago, I twisted
An intercostal muscle (between ribs).
This morning realized it needed
Healing Rest.
Into van for today.
My advantage …
Not riding in high heat.
Still felt like shirking.
Others were riding in heat.
Here's what I know:
Comparison is downright discouraging!
Here was amazing turn-around point:
Donna from CO said,
“Come look at clothes in this closet.”
Oh Wow! Dress-up time.
We tried things on & howled with laughter!
Laughing shifted my mood,
Lifted my heavy funk.
Finding humor really can lmprove outlook.
I'm back on track.
Hugs,
Lin
Limerick:
With things feeling heavy & funky.
An outlook that's all dark & gunky.
A giggle or two,
Will help you renew,
A viewpoint that's lighter & spunky.

Hi Lin!
You’re in my college territory now (where I had had the dream of riding back home from college or to a reunion!
You continue to inspire me! I had a couple of “those days” on my Argentina hiking trip recently! We must get together to share those stories amd more whem you’re back😉 My next challenge is a Lake Superior open water swim in August. We’ll wear wetsuits and swim 2.1 miles in up to 2 foot waves. We’ll see how my PMA (positive mental attitude) can carry me through. Otherwise, there’s always the boat (similar to your ride in the sag wagon:)
Be well, my friend! Stay strong and positive (as usual!!!)
❤️Patsy
Patsy, I’m inspired by your energy and commitment! Talk about “engaging while aging… I love it! 🙂
